Virginia Science Olympiad
Virginia Science Olympiad or “VASO” is dedicated to improving the quality of K-12 science education, increasing male, female and minority interest in science, creating a technologically-literate workforce and providing recognition for outstanding achievement by both students and teachers.

VASO is our local chapter of the national Science Olympiad event. Floris scientists learn to work in a collaborative format to create and solve fun and exciting science and engineering projects.

Division B Events

Virginia Science Olympiad (VASO): Division B, 6th Grade Floris students in 6th grade are invited to register for the 2024 Virginia Science Olympiad (VASO) Division B, which holds multiple Spring tournaments typically in mid-February or early-March.
PLEASE NOTE: Division B of the VASO is a serious competition of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and will require substantial time and effort from your child(ren) for them to be successful. Over the next several months, and at their own pace, the participating children must design and build their own solutions to the contest's stated problems. You must supply all materials that will be required for the students to build their solutions and participate.
The list of available Division B 2024 Events is here: https://www.virginiaso.org/events-bc
Due to the popularity of the Science Olympiad event, please register only if you can commit to volunteering at VASO on the day(s) of the event.
