“It’s Cool in Your School” by MD Science Center

Local Author Visits 3rd Grade

For the third year in a row, local author Moira Donohue spent a day with Floris’ 3rd grade students and excited them about writing. Ms. Donohue has published 18 books about grammar, civil rights leaders and Virginian explorer biographies, and animal stories for the National Geographic. Cultural Arts and Grade-Level Enrichment Programs

A relatively large amount of the PTA’s budget each year goes to providing enrichment programs to all children at Floris.  The PTA does this through two different programs.  Cultural Arts programs are school-wide assemblies.  Grade-level Enrichment (GLE) programs are those presenters or activities that are brought into Floris which directly enhance a grade-level curriculum area.   …

Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation Visits 2nd and 6th Grades

Students in 2nd and 6th grades participated in Grade-Level Enrichment (GLE) programs in January.  The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation returned to Floris for two presentations about history in Virginia.
